Index Revolution: Why Investors Should Join it Now

by - 06:41

Hello everyone!

As I continue my journey on index funds as a safe and reliable investment strategy, I would like to share this book that I've just finished.

This book is pretty new, only released in late November 2016 by Charles D. Ellis, a renowned investment consultant. He is also the author of Winning the Loser's Game, which is an amazing book on investing.

The entire concept of this book is very clear-cut, indexing beats actively managed funds. However, the author first introduces his 50 year journey from when active investing was still the better option, to the point where he gradually realised index funds were better, and why he claims that indexing is the better option now.

It provides a very clear view of how the older generation of investors refuse to change their mindset and believe that their years of expertise is being bested by an index, and how much the market has changed to make indexing the clear winner.

After his introduction to his 50 year experience in the stock market, he provides reasons as to why indexing is superior, in terms of costs, risks, performance etc. The entire book is strongly focused on why indexing is a better option for us passive investors who wish to invest for retirement.

One point I really like from his book is that indexing allows us to pay attention to the more important and better things in life rather than actively managing funds and having to do extensive research in order to gain profitable returns.

This is an excellent second read after Millionaire Teacher and I think it's one book that can clear ALL doubts you had about indexing.

Have a read and you'll know why I also believe in indexing. My next read will be A Random Walk Down Wall Street and next I'll read some books about stocks in order to get a fair view of the other party. Till then!
